Piloted by Lt Cdr Hallam of 1833 Squadron Seafire 17 SX242/113/JA went into the barrier of HMS Illustrious during exercises in September 1950. This aircraft, normally flown by Lt W. A. Storey of 1831 Squadron, is seen during recovery. Lt Cdr Hallam was unhurt. The incident was witnessed by Viscount Hall, First Lord of the Admiralty.
