MICHAEL O’LEARY'S superb plate depicts a Canadian-built Anson V. Now registered C-FHOT, it was built in 1944. The author flew Avro-built Anson Is, powered by Cheetah radials and featuring the classic but draughty greenhouse-type cabin.

Anson I 6724, probably of No I Central Navigation School, after a minor mishap. The damage appears to be slight and no doubt it was out and about again before too long.

A somewhat similar incident to that related in this article, though in this case it happened at Gimli, Manitoba, home of No 18 SFTS, on December 7, 1943. The upper Anson is JS193, the lower JS167.
