New production CRJ900 EI-DOU (c/n 15068) is the first of the type for Rome-based Italian operator Air One and is seen here passing through London Stansted Airport on its delivery flight to Italy on May 23, 2006. The aircraft is the first of six for the airline, which only placed the order a week earlier on May 15, whilst also taking out options on a further four.

Bombardier decided to stretch the CRJ fuselage again in order to carry up to 90 passengers. The resulting CRJ900 entered service in 2001 and was followed by extended and long-range variants. This example is owned by Mesa Airlines, though is operated for America West Express.
Bombardier CRJ900 C-FHRH (c/n 15058) is one of three new aircraft of the type that were delivered to Nigeria's Arik Air on October 3, 2006, the remaining two being C-FGNB (c/n 150541 and C-FHRK (c/n 15059). After making an initial test flight, without passengers, on the Lagos-Abuja route on October 16, Arik Air commenced scheduled passenger services on the route on October 30, with four return flights. On November 24 Bombardier announced that the airline has also ordered a fourth CRJ900.

Libyan Airlines' first Bombardier CRJ900, 5A-DAA (c/n 15120, ex C-FPQO), seen on arrival at Luqa Airport, Malta, on November 30, 2007. The aircraft was delivered on October 16 and is the first to appear with the new titles and livery adopted by the airline, which was until recently known as Libyan Arab Airlines.
Bombardier CRJ900ER NextGen (CL-600-2D4) 5A-LAM (c/n 15257) arrived at Manchester Airport on December 7, 2010 from Keflavik in Iceland on its delivery flight to Libyan Airlines. The regional airliner night-stopped at Manchester before departing for Tripoli the next day. It is the first of an order from the airline revealed by the manufacturer on October 7. The second of the three new aircraft (5A-LAN, c/n 15258) was test flown as C-GIBO and took up it Libyan identity on December 7 prior to being handed over.
Nordica is now operating six of its Bombardier CRJ900s for LOT Polish Airlines, with the jets wearing a dual livery. This aircraft, ES-ACJ (c/n 15250), pictured approaching Palma de Mallorca, is the most recent aircraft to be transferred.
Unlike some large airlines, Lufthansa is strengthening its regional network with orders for 45 new aircraft. Fifteen of the new arrivals will be CRJ900s, which will join 12 already in service. These aircraft will be assigned to Lufthansa City Line, part of Lufthansa Regional, and are fitted with 86 seats.

Lufthansa City Line's second Bombardier CRJ900, D-ACKB (c/n 15073), seen during pre-delivery test flying as C-GZQU. The airline’s first aircraft, D-ACKA (c/n 15072) was handed-over on June 29, 2006 and ferried Montreal - Keflavik - Cologne on June 30 - July 1 on its delivery flight. It was ferried from Cologne to Munich on July 31 and undertook City Line’s first revenue service with the type on August 1, operating from Munich to Oslo.
Mesaba’s first Northwest Airlink Bombardier CRJ900, N901XJ (c/n 15130), which had been delivered on May 24, 2007, departs Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport, Minnesota, on June 7, operating its first revenue flight, to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. The aircraft is the first of 36 CRJ900s that Mesaba plan to introduce into service by the end of 2008.
Pluna Lineas Aereas Uruguayas Bombardier CRJ900 CX-CRA (c/n 15165, ex C-FTMF) arrives at Montevideo/Carrasco International Airport, Uruguay, on March 14, 2008 after its delivery flight from Montreal/Mirabel, Canada, via Providenciales (Turks and Caicos) and Manaus (Brazil). The aircraft is the first of eight ordered by Pluna in July 2007, when it also took out options on a further eight.
CityJet has ordered ten Bombardier CRJ900s, which will be used by the Irish carrier to provide wet-lease services for SAS out of Copenhagen.

Bombardier's latest airliner, the 100-seat CRJ1000 NextGen, made its maiden flight from its Mirabel facility near Montreal, Quebec in Canada on September 3, 2008 in the hands of test pilots Jacques Thibaudeau and Chuck Ellis, along with test engineer Eugene Lardizabal. The aircraft took off at 1002hrs and remained airborne for 3 hours 25 minutes, during which it reached an altitude of 30,000ft (9,150m) and a maximum speed of 260kts (481 km/h). The first CRJ1000 (C-FRJX, c/n 19991) was previously the prototype CRJ700 and 900. A total of 39 firm orders and 24 options have been placed by Adria Airways, Brit Air, Myair.com and an undisclosed customer.

Bombardier (CL600-2E25) CRJ1000 NextGen EC-US (c/n 19003) seen at Valencia International Airport on January 7, 2011 is the first delivered to Air Nostrum, one of the two launch customers for the regional jet. It was delivered on December 17, 2010, and ferried via Montreal-Mirabel International Airport and Goose Bay Airport in Canada, and Keflavik in Iceland, before arriving at Valencia. The first example of the CRJ1000 handed over was F-HMLA (c/n 19004, ex C-GELU) for Brit Air, which was delivered three days earlier and ferried via the same route, though terminating at Morlaix Airport in France. The airline was planning to use the type on the Lyon to Rome sector during the recent festive season. Air Nostrum's second example (EC-UR, c/n 19002, ex C-GCBN) was delivered on December 20. Between them, the two carriers have ordered 49 CRJWOOs.

Air Nostrum Bombardier CRJ1000 EC-MXA (c/n 19060), operated for Iberia Express, now wears stickers marking the centenary of the Spanish football club Valencia. The livery depicts all the trophies won by the club during its history, the legend 'Un sentiment etern’ on the fuselage meaning, 'An eternal feeling’.
At its St Laurent facility in Quebec, Bombardier has now developed the first tool for an optimised wing to fuselage belly fairing composite design.

Improvements to the CRJ family flight deck include the addition of automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast out equipment to comply with new regulations in the United States.
 
Among the cabin seating layouts available is this mixed two- and three-class configuration. The fuselage section is similar to that of the CRJ900, but with an extension to provide room for three more seat rows.
Atmosphere introduces larger overhead luggage bins, LED lighting and wider seats.
The Atmosphere cabin, to debut this year, includes a redesigned forward entrance area to increase space.
A redesigned forward lavatory offers 60% more space and is designed to improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
A 7% scale model of the CRJ1000 was tested in late 2006 at the National Research Council in Ottawa to assess the aircraft's low-speed handling characteristics. These lasted three weeks and the CRJ1000’s final design will reflect the test's findings.

THE LATEST Global Market Forecast (GMF) from Airbus, the company's long-term prediction on future commercial aircraft sales, was issued early in July. The company is predicting a doubling in the numbers of commercial aircraft in service from 2018 to 2037, by which time it will expand to more than 48,000 aircraft.

MyAir, one of the three launch customers of the CRJ1000, is planning to introduce the aircraft on point-to-point routes in Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean area in 2009.
Bombardier launched its latest CRJ variant, the CRJ1000, in February 2007 with 38 firm orders, including 15 from Italian low-cost operator myair. A modified version of the smaller CRJ900, it has been developed to meet regional airlines' needs for jets of up to 100 seats. The first flight is scheduled for this summer, with entry into revenue service in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Even though the CRJ700, 900 and 1000 are not old designs, Bombardier announced in May 2007 that it is now offering NextGen variants of these aircraft that will be more efficient to operate and maintain. They will also feature a redesigned cabin with larger windows. One of the airlines that decided to opt for a new variant is illustrated in this computer-generated image of a Pluna CRJ900.
It is indicative of its satisfaction with its CRJ100ER and CRJ700 aircraft that Brit Air will be one of the launch customers of the CRJ1000. The company claims that the exceptional operating economics of its existing CRJ fleet was one of the major factors in its decision to order the larger member of the family.
