Schweizer.

<...>

THE SCHWEIZER SGS 2-8, TG-2

<...>
As the US aircraft industry began to absorb huge quantities of metal alloys for operational aircraft, Schweizers were instructed to redesign their two-seater using wood. This was the end of the production run on the TG-2, which was soon replaced by the SGS 2-12, or, as it was known, the TG-3. This was the only wooden glider type they ever built. It was much heavier than the TG-2.

A Schweizer TG-3 in civilian markings is hauled aloft by a winch, the parachute near the nose is used to lower the line gently once released. The TG-3 was an improved TG-2, more suitable for Army training.
A Schweizer TG-3A is shown in the simplified silver dope finish which was adopted in wartime in place of the more colourful and traditional Army training scheme. The glider was an all-wood and fabric variant of the TG-2.
First in a series of high-lift BLC experimental aircraft used by the Aerophysics Department of the Mississippi State University was this Schweizer TG-3A sailplane.
