G.Jones - 'Big Doug' Retires from Northwest /Commercial/
Operating the last two Northwest DC-10 sectors was N237NW, which is pictured taxiing in at Honolulu on January 7, 2007. The next day it flew back to Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport ending the type's 34-year career with the airline.
This aircraft, photographed in 1976 at Anchorage wears the original livery and titles worn by the company's DC-10s. The airline dropped the word 'Orient' from its name in 1986 after merging with Republic Airlines.
Due to the impending retirement of the DC-10 only a few examples were painted in the airline's current livery. This aircraft is pictured at Amsterdam.
