The journal of a roving spotter
A good illustration of the effect of film types and filters on colour rendition in black and white photographs is given by the two views of a rebuilt Spad 7. The upper photograph is on orthochromatic film with no filter, the lower photograph on panchromatic film with a red filter. Notice especially the reversal of tonal values of the fin stripes; the foremost colour is in faint red.
The two Bristol 170s which have been used at the R.R.E., Defford, as flying test-beds for the development of Air Interception radar, have now been scrapped . They were VR380 (ex-G-GAPV) and VR382 (ex-G-AGUT) illustrated here with a prominent nose radome.
