The rear turret of this Lancaster was sliced off by a bomb dropped from another Lancaster flying above.
The emplacements of heavy guns used to bombard Dover and adjacent areas from Calais were heavily bombed in the autumn of 1944. The scattered candles of a Target Indicator can be seen smoking on the beach, which is covered with obstruction posts.
