Initial fleet equipment comprised Douglas DC-4s, of which LN-HAT was received in February 1947, followed in the 1960s by DC-6s (shown).
Douglas DC-6B LN-SUT was bought by the airline on May 25, 1965, and is seen here at Gatwick in the late 1960s.

Douglas DC-6B N90961 was delivered to Continental in January 1955, although it was actually operated and maintained by United Air Lines - note the dual markings on the fin - to fulfil interchange (through-flight) arrangements between the two airlines. Another DC-6B was used for a similar arrangement with American Airlines.

All four DC-6A aircraft have now arrived in this country. Hunting Clan's G-APNO and 'NP at London Airport and Eagle's G-APOM and 'ON at Blackbushe. G-APNO arrived 10th August and 'ON on 4th September. The latter, shown here, carried N6814C on fuselage and G-APON on the fin.
Seen here at Frankfurt in July 1958, Douglas DC-6B ET-T-25 was delivered to EAL on April 30 that year. Services to Frankfurt via Cairo and Athens began in June 1958, offering an important interchange with TWA services on to other points in Europe and the USA. Re-registered ET-AAX in 1962, this aircraft soldiered on with EAL until March 1977 when it was sold to Alyemda (Yemen Airlines).
Faucett ultimately operated a fleet of six Douglas DC-6s. This example, OB-R-750, joined the fleet in November 1964, converted into a dedicated cargo aircraft; note the lack of cabin windows and the large door in the rear fuselage for freight operations. It is seen here at Miami in April 1979.
DC-6A G-APNO undergoes maintenance at Salisbury Airport, Rhodesia - one of the points served by the airline's "Colonial Coach" services. Both of the company’s DC-6s were transferred to British United Airways when Hunting-Clan merged with Airwork Services in 1960. Both DC-6s went to Balair in 1969 and operated in Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War, G-APNP crashing on approach to Uli Airport in May that year.
At Heathrow on August 7, 1958, Hunting-Clan took delivery of G-APNO, the first of a pair of Douglas DC-6As (the second, G-APNP, arrived on September 11). Like the Yorks they replaced, these were used mainly for cargo services, but could also be converted for passenger use. The DC-6s entered “Africargo” service on December 14, 1958.
First owner of G-APNO was Hunting-Clan.

Douglas DC-6B OO-SDF was the first of the improved B-series for the company. It was ordered by Sabena in 1951 and delivered on March 8, 1953, but only used for a year, being sold to Aeromaritime in France on May 28, 1954.

ATLANTIC DIVISION (ATLD) operates Douglas C-118A (U.S.N. R6D) Liftmasters from McGuire A.F.B., N.J. The Liftmaster of M.A.T.S. has maximum range of 2,100 nautical miles cruising at 275 m.p.h. Douglas C-133As (P. & W. T34 turboprops) will first supplement and eventually replace C-118As by flying N. and S. Atlantic non-stop. The 1700th Test Squadron (Turboprop), Kelly A.F.B., Texas, is already conducting ATLD personnel in C-133A flying and maintenance courses.
