   Прежде чем заказ британского Адмиралтейства на шесть Vickers E.F.B.4 был выполнен, его "перехватило" Военное министерство. Прототип E.F.B.5 стал прародителем первого военного самолета компании - F.B.5 Gunbus, построенного в количестве более 200 экземпляров.
   Самолет в основном использовался Королевским авиакорпусом, хотя около 15 машин также служили в Воздушной службе ВМС. В ходе производства в конструкцию вносились доработки, а громоздкий пулемет Vickers с ленточным питанием заменили на более легкий Lewis на шкворневой установке.
   Оснащенный 100-сильным (75 кВт) ротативным ПД Gnome Monosoupape, Gunbus развивал на оптимальной высоте максимальную скорость 113 км/ч и мог держаться в воздухе около четырех с половиной часов.
   В 1915 году проходили испытания экспериментальные варианты F.B.5: один самолет со 110-сильным (82 кВт) ротативным ПД Clerget и два самолета со 150-сильными (112 кВт) радиальными ПД Smith.
   Помимо "Vickers" самолет F.B.5 выпускался по лицензии французской фирмой "S.A. Darracq et Cie" и датской "А/S Nielson and Winthers". Дальнейшим развитием F.B.5 стал F.B.6, отличавшийся верхним крылом увеличенного размаха, но в серию он не пошел.

The Vickers F.B.5 Gunbus replica was built by the Vintage Aircraft Flying Association (Brooklands) and has an original 100 h.p. Gnome engine. Finished as 2345 Bombay (2), it first flew on June 14, 1966, and is now in the RAF Museum.

Gunbus No 1621 in German hands. It flew briefly with Nos 2 and 16 Squadrons in February 1915 before being brought down and captured intact.

The Gnome Monosoupape rotary was the cause of many headaches. An 11 Squadron F.B.5 has its engine diagnosed, above.

The original presentation Gunbus 2345 Bombay (2), on which the VAFA’s replica was based, flew with No 18 Squadron.

The Vickers Gunbus reproduction built by the Vintage Aircraft and Flying Association (Brooklands) in 1966, powered by a 100 h.p. Gnome Monosoupape and now exhibited at the RAF Museum at Hendon.

The Vickers F.B.5 Gunbus, RFC serial number 2345 (also registered G-ATVP) is one of two replicas included in the RAF Museum collection, the other being the Vickers Vimy.
