B-18 Bolo
- B-18 с моторами R-1820-45, вооружение 3x7,62, вариант B-18M с измененным бомбоотсеком для подвески крупнокалиберных бомб;
- B-18A с моторами R-1820-53 и новой носовой частью, вооружение: 3x7,62, существовал вариант B-18 AM, аналогичный B-18M;

B-17 Flying Fortress.

A DOUGLAS BOMBER. This is the high-speed, long-range Douglas entered in the U.S. Army Air Corps competition with the ill-fated Boeing 299 and the new Martin. It bears resemblance in certain features, notably the undercarriage, to the D.C.2 commercial machine.

AMERICAN SHOWMANSHIP: The mass formation is led by Northrop A.17.A attack machines, followed by Douglas B.18s, which may be regarded as the bomber derivative of the commercial D.C.2; Picture is from the M.G.-M. film Test Pilot, which has its premiere at the Empire Theatre, London, tomorrow (Friday).

NASAL ARCHITECTURE: A fine aerial study ol the nose of a Douglas B18-A bomber (two Wright Cyclones) of the U.S. Army Air Corps. A machine gun is installed in the spherical mounting below the projecting "transparency" which houses the bomb aimer The bomb traps in the belly of the fuselage are also visible. This type of Douglas is used extensively by America, but even with the two-speed supercharged Cyclones it is believed to be inferior in performance to the Whitley V or Wellington I - which is understandable, as the American type is quite an old adaptation of the DC-2 transport.

DOUGLAS BOMBERS FOR CANADA: Twenty large twin-engined bombers generally similar to the Douglas B-18s used by the U.S. Army Air Corps are being delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force. The first one is seen being towed over the border in accordance with the cash-and-carry provisions of the Neutrality Law which prevent aircraft being flown across. The nose design is interesting; the upper projecting portion is the bomb-aimer's position and the sphere below houses a machine gun.

20 Douglas Digbys were supplied to the RCAF in 1939-40. They served mainly with Nos 10 (BR) and 161 Sqns on recce duties and the last was struck off charge on November 22, 1946. This anonymous example is seen at Moncton in January 1944. -

Basically a bomber conversion of the DC-3, the Douglas DB-1 came first in the Bomber Competition of 1936; 133 were ordered as B-18, powered by Wright Cyclone R-1820-15. The type underwent many engine and internal changes. Version shown is an RB-18C.
