Летающая лодка (проект)

Russian Aviation Museum

The Prize is the four-seat twin-engine development of the Pony aircraft. Propellers and engines are installed inside large rings (see DAR by R.L.Bartini). Such installation reduces noise and increases efficiensy of the powerplant, but on expense of some
added weight and reduced wing area.

Like its smaller predecessor, Prize relies on 3-float/3-wheel taildragger scheme. According to designers, such aircraft is easier to fly and it is less demanding to the pilot's skills. Wheels are retractable and equipped with brakes.
Wing carries ailerons and takeoff/landing flaps. Aircraft is build of aluminum alloys.

Navigation equipment includes artificial horizon, barometric altimeter, directional gyroscope, radiocompass, turn-and-slip indicator, airspeed indicator, transponder.

Development of the general purpose Prize began in 1990. Construction of four test aircraft was undertaken at NAPO, first aircraft was scheduled for the late 1994. Certification was planned on the end of 1996.
