Piper Aerostar 600/601/601P (USA)
Design of this aircraft was started by the Ted Smith Aircraft Co in November 1964 and the first 600/601 prototype flew in October 1967. The current models are the 600A with two 216 kW (290 hp) Lycoming IO-540-K1J5
engines; the 601B with 216 kW (290 hp) IO-540-S1A5 turbocharged engines and increased wing span; and the 601P with higher flow-rate turbochargers. By the end of 1978 190 Model 600s, 135 Model 601s and 259 Model 601Ps had been built.
