Hawker Audax K3698 was the actual aircraft in which the author's friend Plt Off Ronnie Morgan Elms, was killed at Old Sarum on May 29, 1937. This photograph was taken in September 1934, when the aircraft was with No 16 Squadron, Old Sarum.

“The aircraft slid along the grass and came to a quick halt” A similar accident to the one described occurred at Brough in January 1938.
