    The author flying Hawker Hart G-ABMR, the subject of his article. This 1961 photograph shows the Hart bearing the Service number J9933, which actually belonged to the first production Hart bomber for the RAF. G-ABMR differed considerably from RAF Harts, notably in having a supercharged, instead of a normally aspirated, Rolls-Royce Kestrel engine.

    The author airborne in 'MR in 1963, shortly after it was repainted to represent a Hart of B Flight, 57 Sqn.

    "As pants the hart...” the author gets the Hart’s tail up at RAF Odiham on June 16, 1962 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Display, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Flying Corps.

    G-ABMR photographed at Brooklands circa 1934 during the time it acted as a sales demonstrator. Later it became an engine testbed for most of the Kestrel series of engines. Note the wheel spats.

    ’MR in Hawker colours of dark blue and gold, being started up at Langley in January 1952 before an air-to-air sortie with a formation of 1 Sqn Meteor 8s from RAF Tangmere. Frank Murphy piloted the Hart, with Flight photographer John Yoxall wielding his camera from the rear seat.
