A loser at the auction: interest in the incomplete prototype Montagne Mach Buster, designed to be the first propeller-driven aircraft to exceed Mach One in level flight, was minimal. Another loser was a nasty-looking film mock-up Spitfire which, although it sold for $8, promptly had its wing run over by a World War Two half-track.
