В начале января 2014г. в испытательном центре Корпуса морской пехоты США в Твентинайн Палме (шт. Калифорния) начались предварительные испытания головной партии новейших беспилотных летательных аппаратов RQ-21A Blackjack. Этот БПЛА создан компанией Insitu Inc. Длина RQ-21A составляет 2,4 м, размах крыла - 4,8 м. Стандартный комплект разведоборудования, масса которого ограничена 10 кг, включает дневные и ночные камеры слежения, инфракрасный указатель, коммуникационный комплект, приемники системы автоматического распознавания. Аппарат позволяет вести наблюдение и разведку в интересах подразделений, действующих на суше и на море. Благодаря открытой архитектуре возможно быстро менять конфигурацию установленного оптоэлектронного оборудования. В целом система включает в себя пять БПЛА, две наземные станции управления, оборудование для запуска и технического обслуживания.
