A 303rd FS A-10 fires its 30mm gun at a target on the Smoky Hill range during Hawgsmoke 2008. This unit won the previous competition in 2006 and thus hosted the event this year. The overall winner this time round was the 190th FS of the Idaho ANG.

Impressive nose art on an A-10 of the 190th FS, Arkansas ANG. This was one of 24 Thunderbolt Ils to attend the event. Originally 70 aircraft were to take part, but just prior to the competition a large part of the A-10 fleet was grounded for wing inspections.
