Republic F-84F Thunderstreaks served mainly in the fighter-bomber role and were nuclear-capable. The type served with many front line and Air National Guard units before finally being retired by the Illinois and Ohio ANG in November 1971. This aircraft carries the markings of the 511th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 405th Fighter-Bomber Wing based at Langley AFB.
