The system employed by Lt Bosquet at the Michelin competition of 1912. The box contained the approved spherical bombs which were released by the opening of a trapdoor controlled by a wire operated by the pilot.

Another contender in the 1912 competition was this Farman piloted by Lt Terrisse with an unnamed bomb aimer in the rear. Note what appears to be a welder’s hood as protection against the airstream, and the spherical bomb “at the ready” suspended from a hook below. The reserve bombs are stowed in the long box.
