The photograph is captioned "16384 Kenley RAF Aerodrome - Judges Ltd" and shows a Bulldog of No.17 Squadron. Someone is standing in front of the fuselage serial and for some reason the number is not repeated on the rudder. Judges Postcards Ltd were at Hastings before the war. Are they still in business and did the firm have a collection of aviation photographs in their files? Where are they now?
A friend of Jack's gave him a similar photo to the Judge's postcard who believed it was taken in the summer of 1936. There are others in the series which our readers have found, including 'Syrinx' at Croydon so their photographers obviously got around. The card numbers 16335, 16337 and 16339 suggest the firm had a large stock, presumably of all types of subject.
