??? - Round Engine Racers at Reno /Veteran & Vintage/
Furias.
Lloyd Hamilton's modified Sea Fury officially named "Head Gorilla" hut rechristened "Havnaught" for its contest with the "Dreadnought" at Reno. A runaway propeller prevented this aircraft from qualifying for the final contest.
Dreadnought.
The "Dreadnought" at Reno. A modified Sea Fury FB Mk 11, it features an R-4360 "corn cob" radial engine which is easier to support and maintain than the original Centaurus, and produced a speed of 446-392 mph (718,38 km/h) to qualify for the Unlimited event at Reno, which it went on to win at a slightly lower speed.
The "Dreadnought", a re-engined Sea Fury T Mk 20 in which Neil Anderson won the Unlimited Class Championship at Reno in 1983.
One of unmodified Sea Furies at Reno was Lloyd Hamilton's FR Mk 11 N588
One of unmodified Sea Furies at Reno was Frank Sanders' T Mk 20 N924G.
Powered by an R-4360 Double Cyclone, Lloyd Hamilton's single-seat Sea Fury, the “Havnaught".
