The picture attached was a mystery. A few years ago I sent the picture into the Hull Daily Mail and received this a few days later:

Just a short note to say the two gentlemen in the picture in the Hull Daily Mail are my great uncles. My Grandmother and the gentlemen's sister is alive and well today, and also has a copy of the picture. As far as I am aware it did fly (however not far due to the engine not being up to it!! ).

The gentlemen are called Stanley and Tommy Smith the plane itself was built in Benningholme in about 1938. They built it all themselves and my Great Grandma Smith sewed all the material for the wings and fuselage on her singer sewing machine. My Grandmother Marion Smith (sister to the brothers) and my Mum Judy Bunting will be happy to provide more information and have asked me to pass on telephone numbers if needed.

From Stuart Leslie via Jack Meaden comes this photo of a British parasol homebuilt. The type is unknown though it has echoes of many types, Pietenpohl, Rearwin, etc and many similarities to the Fiat AS1. There are suggestions of it being in the Driffield or Beverley area of east Yorkshire but nothing definite.
