From Barry Abraham of the Airfield Research Group we have this photograph of Westland S-55 G-ANFH at an unknown location said to have been taken in 1960. Used by BEA from 11.54 to 4.69, it appears to be in their predominantly red colour scheme with black fillet and white cockpit area. Any company logos and titles are hidden by the Massey Ferguson "Harvest Brigade" panels. As we believe that G-ANFH retained the old BEA grey colours with red and white stripes into the early sixties we are unsure about the 1960 date. It must have some agricultural purpose but although it was once used for spraying trials (in the 'old' colour scheme) it certainly has no external fittings in this view. So, what was the Harvest Brigade and where was the photo taken? The hangar may not be much of a clue, being a typical modified Blister as found on many wartime training airfields

  • From Stuart Leslie via Jack Meaden comes this photo of a British parasol homebuilt. The type is unknown though it has echoes of many types, Pietenpohl, Rearwin, etc and many similarities to the Fiat AS1. There are suggestions of it being in the Driffield or Beverley area of east Yorkshire but nothing definite.
