New generation aerobatic aircraft of A.S.Yakovlev design bureau, breaking long line of aircrafts started in 1937 with UT-2. The Yak-54 two-seat sporting and aerobatics aircraft has specially been designer for training sports pilots in aerobatics flight
and for participating in the aircraft sports competitions.
The Yak-54 is an all-metal monoplane designer on the basis of the developed system and units of Yak-55M sporting and aerobatics single-seat, being the basic aircraft in Russian aeroclubs.
The aircraft is powered by the reliable M-14 air-cooled piston engine with three-blade variable-pitch propeller.
The aircraft offers simplicity in handling. Its piloting is perfectly available even for the trainee. Large margin of strength, low power loading and excellent handling ensure an experienced pilot to perform complex aerobatics without altitude loss.
Yak-54 two-seater will replace the Yak-52 fleet. Airplanes are assembled at the Saratov Aviation Plant which facilities allow to produce more than 100 Yak-54s a year. Northwest Aerobatic Center and Dancing Bear airshow ordered 48 airplanes for
distribution in the USA.
