L-6 flying boat made first appearance at the Helendzhik-2000 hydro-aviation show. This aircraft is an example of successful combination of private capital (Aero-Volga carrier based at Samara) and skilled team of designers and workers.
The L-6 was designed and built in 9 months, including research of a scale model at the TsAGI hydrochannel. After 2 months of aircraft trials it covered route from Samara to Helendzhik on its own wings to take part in the airshow.
Aircraft is powered by VAZ-Lada Wankel-type engine.
In June 2001 modified variant L-6M was presented at the MAKS-2001 airshow. It appears to have different engine cowling and modified forward hull section.
