Air Baltic was the first A220-300 operator in December 2016, after Swiss had put the A220-100 into operation in July 2016.

Half of the A220, including the entire wing, is carbon fibre, with aluminium lithium and titanium also forming a large proportion of the structure.

The A220-300 launch operator Air Baltic now has 19 examples, including YL-CSL (c/n 55041) marked to celebrate Latvia's centenary.
