The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt on our front cover, photographed by MICHAEL O'LEARY, is N47DE, now in residence at Blackbushe after flying the Atlantic in company with a P-51D Mustang.

Non-standard drop tanks were fitted for the Atlantic crossing by way of Greenland and Iceland. Dave Zeuschel piloted the P-47 for these photographs.
