N.Ewart - When flying was still an adventure (1)
D.H. 60 Moth G-AADB, the author's favourite, began life as the American Naval Attache's personal aircraft, based at Stag Lane.
The Avro Avian owned by the chief ground engineer of the Yapton Aero Club. The author flew the owner in Spartan Three Seater G-ABLJ to pick up the Avian from Croydon.
This D.H.9 was used for banner towing. Its owner, C. B. Field, gave the author the odd ride in it.
Also resident at Ford was D.H.9 G-AACR, used by Alan Cobham for flight refuelling experiments.
