5 сентября 2017г. британский еженедельник Flight International написал, что немецко-китайское авиастроительное предприятие Dornier Seawings GmbH представило первый экземпляр модернизированного двухдвигательного цельнокомпозитного самолета-амфибии Dornier Seastar. Официальная церемония выкатки состоялась 18 августа на линии окончательной сборки машины в Оберпфаффенхофене (Германия). Самолет имеет улучшенный интерьер, оснащен усовершенствованным комплексом авионики, новым шасси и пятилопастными композитными воздушными винтами. Сертификация его запланирована на 2020 г.
