Liore-et-Olivier 300

THE PARIS AERO SHOW

The French Exhibits

Liore & Olivier. - Size is the keynote of this stand, both the machines exhibited being well described as a Gros Porteur and a Tres Gros Porteur respectively.
<...>
The LeO 30 is a four-engined cantilever monoplane fitted with four Hispano engines, type 12 Nbr. At least these engines are to be fitted. At the show the nacelles were empty. A four-wheeled undercarriage is used, each of the wheels being independently mounted on its own tripod. The machine is a bomber with a wing area of 2,000 sq. ft. and a gross weight of 33,000 lb.

The Liore et Olivier Bomber: Accessible Engines

ACCESSIBILITY of the engines of large aircraft while in flight is a problem that has occupied the minds of designers for many years. About ten years ago, the Boulton & Paul "Bodmin" and the Parnall "Possum" were built with engines in the fuselage with gear drive to outboard airscrews. In recent years it has been possible to attend to the engines of certain thick-winged monoplanes, as, for example, the Junkers G.38, while in flight.
The Liore et Olivier all-metal, four-engined long-range night bomber illustrated herewith is known as the type 30. Either 650-h.p. Hispano-Suiza 12 Nbr engines or Renault 500-h.p. 12 Jb's may be fitted. With the former engines the machine is known as the type 301, and with the Renaults as the 300, according to the French system of numbering Service aircraft. In each case the engines are mounted in tandem pairs below the wings, and, owing to the width of the nacelles, they may receive attention during flight. The main particulars applying to the Liore et Olivier type 30 are as follows:- Span 124 ft. 7 in., length 78 ft. 8 in., wing area 1,990 sq. ft., weight empty 18,920 lb., normal loaded weight 30,800 lb., maximum permissible loaded weight 36,300 lb.
ACCESSIBILITY: The Liore et Olivier 301 bomber. Note the undercarriage.
Для своего времени LeO 300 был просто гигантским самолетом, обратите внимание на характерное шасси.
LIORE & OLIVIER: The large Leo 30 four-engined bomber, the 4-wheeI undercarriage.
ACCESSIBILITY: We see one of the Renault engines (in the type 300) receiving attention.
