B.Hales-Dutton - Flybe Flies ... and Flies! /Commercial/
Flybe's Embraer 195LR G-FBEE lifting off from Innsbruck Airport in Austria on July 10, 2010. The E195s are due to be augmented by E175s this summer.
On July 20, 2010, Flybe ordered 35 Embraer 175s at the Farnborough International Airshow. At the same time it placed options for 65 further examples and took out purchase rights for another 40.
The 14 Embraer 195s in service (all ERJ-190-200LRs) are used on flybe's longer routes. The company ordered the airliners in June 2005 and they were delivered from September 2006.
Prior to standardising on the Q400 and E195, flybe and its predecessors operated a large fleet of BAe 146 variants.
Flybe currently has 12 BAe 146s in its fleet, which were due to be relinquished by 2008. However, the date will slip to 2009 if the purchase of BA Connect goes ahead.
The Bombardier DHC-8-402 Dash 8 (Q400) forms the bulk of flybe's fleet and will do so for many years to come.
Q400 G-JECH (cn 4103) arriving at Manchester International Airport on March 1, 2011.
Bombardier DHC-8-402Q Dash 8 G-ECOW (cn 4021, ex LN-RDF) was one of four previously flown by SAS. It has since left the flybe fleet and is seen stored at Maastricht Aachen Airport in the Netherlands on March 7, 2011.
Flybe has painted British footballer players on the nose of the majority of its Q400s. G-JECF carries an image of Adam Stansfield, who played for Exeter City and Hereford Town, but unfortunately passed away in August 2010.
