Illustrating a recent Impressments Review is this shot of Miles M.2F Hawk Major G-ACWV at Castle Bromwich before the war. This particular Hawk , c/n 110, was used for skywriting as is evident in the photograph from the extra-long 'exhaust-pipe' which ends beneath the letter C of the registration.

The first flight of a civil-registered Gloster Gladiator is an event well worth recording and we have just received this shot of OH-XGT taken on the day of its first flight after prolonged rebuild, at Halli 10.5.82. The Gladiator wears Finnish Air Force colours and the serial GT-400 in addition to civil marks.

Of amusing interest is this obscured shot of Safir OO-HUG (1340). The apprehensive pilot and advancing top brass were at RAF Kenley where the Safir landed on 28.5.61 during the Surrey Wing Inspection, apparently mistaking the field for Biggin Hill!
