Union Airways of New Zealand operated three DH.86s on internal routes between 1936 and 1939. Illustrated above is ZK-AEG "Karoro" which was nominally the only survivor of wartime impressment although parts of all three were used to produce one airworthy example which became ZK-AHW.

Dragonfly ZK-AFB in the colours of its final owners Air Charter. It escaped impressment but did fly long coastal patrols during the war in civil colours.

ZK-AFF is the only airworthy Monospar in the world and still appears regularly at displays in New Zealand

By way of contrast ZK-AFD, the first of the Electras to fly in NZ, still exists as a museum exhibit in Auckland.
