Регистрационный номер: VX350 [2] The sole Fairey FD I, VX 350 seen at rest with wing leading edge slots open. First flown by Fairey's Grp. Capt. R.G. Slade on 12 March 1951, he had initiated taxi tests ten months earlier on 12 May 1950. However, so violent were the pitching moments as the machine gathered speed that Gordon Slade insisted that the porpoising be remedied before he would fly it. The remedy came in the shape of the small, fixed tailplane. which restricted the machine's maximum speed to below 345mph, demolishing all thought of reaching the estimated 628mph at 10.000 feet.
