Регистрационный номер: N4079 [2] The use of rocket-assisted take-off gear on naval aircraft had been investigated in the opening months of the Second World War. Using the technology applied to anti-aircraft rockets, satisfactory units had been made and preliminary RATOG tests had been carried out on a Shark. Tests on a Fulmar took place at Farnborough from May to July 1941, using N4079. Take-offs were made using various sequences of rocket firing. The effect of rocket blast on aircraft parked behind the test aircraft and on wooden decks was also verified.
