F.6 Airone
The first light twin designed by Stelio Frati was the F.6 Airone (Heron) which was built by Legnami Pasotti S.p.A. in 1954. It was powered by two Continental C-90s which gave it a maximum speed of 172mph but production models were offered with 105hp Walter Minors or 135hp Lycomings. The Airone was of wooden monocoque construction and the sole example remained active for many years. Plans for further production were cancelled, as was the intention to build it under licence in Germany by Flugzeugbau Burglengenfeld, who had named their proposed version the Burgfalke Kurier.
P.001 I-PUPI F/f 13.7.54. C of A issued to Soc.Legnami Pasotti, Milan 5.10.54; to AC Trento; to AC Torino, Aeritalia N. C of A expired 4.8.73, wfu and cancelled 1978.
Note: the registrations I-ACHB to I-ACHK (ten aircraft) were reserved on 27.7.54 for production Airones which were not built. At least one registration, I-ACHI, has been re-allocated since.
