The Fieldmaster and the Firecracker are products of NDN Aircraft, a "small, privately-owned design organisation with a staff of 30 which develops aircraft for other companies to manufacture in series".

With financial backing from the National Research Development Corporation, NDN Aircraft Ltd has embarked upon its second new aircraft project, the NDN 6 Fieldmaster. Powered by a 750 shp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-34AG turboprop, the Fieldmaster is an agricultural aeroplane at the top end of the size range, with a number of novel features. The prototype is expected to fly in mid-1981.
FIRST FLIGHT of the Firemaster-65 fire-bombing aircraft took place at Old Sarum on 28 October 1989. Powered by the Pratt & Whitney 1230shp PT6A-65AG gas turbine engine, the Firemaster therefore offers a significant power increase over the -35. This enables the aircraft to operate at maximum all up weight from restricted airfields in hot and high conditions. Offsetting the engine by 2 degrees to the right of centre line and 2 degrees nose down has reduced torque effect.
