The Tu-214SR is a communications relay version purpose built for SFD Rossiya. Aircraft RA-64516 was built at the KAPO plant in Kazan, and made its maiden flight in December 2008.
The second of two Tu-214SR communications relay aircraft RA-64516 fitted with an elongated fairing on top of the fuselage, housing satellite communication antennas. The aircraft is operated by the Special Air Detachment (Spetsyalnyi Lyotnyi Otryad) 'Rossiya'; a unit that provides air transportation for the Russian government.

Il-96-300PU RA-96012 was built in 1995 and remains the oldest aircraft used for Presidential transportation. It is likely to be retired after two new Il-96-300PUS command post aircraft enter service during the final weeks of this year.

SFD Rossiya’s rotary-wing fleet comprises 16 Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-8MTV-1S helicopters con­figured with VIP interiors. The MTV-1S variant is fitted with special communications systems.
