The first CH-47F(NL) seen during its initial hover trials at Summit Airport, Delaware, on December 8, 2010. Together with the second helicopter, it will be involved in a 100-hour flight test programme that lasts until August. The grey colour scheme will be applied to all Dutch transport helicopters in the coming years.
CH-47D D-666 of No.298 Squadron is one of seven Chinooks that entered RNLAF service in 1995/1996 after being remanufactured from ex-Canadian CH-47Cs.
A CH-47F, operated by B Company 'Flippers' of Fort Bragg-based 3-82 General Support Aviation Battalion, is a remanufactured aircraft delivered on July 31, 2008. It was photographed while hauling a sling load with supplies to an outpost in Southern Afghanistan. The US Army took delivery of its 100th CH-47F on July 22 last year.
This CH-47F is a new-build aircraft delivered on August 29, 2008 and operated by B Company 'Flippers' of the 3-82 General Support Aviation Battalion based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Honeywell's ACMS Block 6 full-glass cockpit is unique to the CH-47F(NL). The two hand grips with switches on the panel between the seats are used for control of the MX-15HDi electro-optical turret under the helicopter's nose.
