Fox AF6002 bearing the holly-leaf badge of No 3 Squadron. This aircraft was the second built by Avions Fairey at its factory at Gosselies, near Charleroi, the first 12 Foxes for Belgium having been built by Fairey at Hayes. Middlesex, with Rolls-Royce Kestrel engines. Almost 200 Foxes were built in 11 versions, with engines ranging from the 480 h.p. Rolls-Royce Kestrel IIS to the 800 h.p. Hispano-Suiza 12Ydrs. Nine were involved in a heroic action against Messerschmitt Bf 109s in May 1940; six survived and one '109 was destroyed.
