B.Gunston - The V-bombers (3)
Photographs showing the Victor prototype in new colour scheme of matt black fuselage with red cheat line and silver grey wings and tailplane applied for the 1953 SBAC Farnborough show.
The Victor prototype, WB771, made its maiden flight on Christmas Eve, 1952. It is seen here in silver finish early in 1953.
Another view of the prototype Victor, WB771. The Victor was to make its first public appearance at the Queen’s Coronation Review flypast at Odiham on July 15, 1953.
Looking like a cross between an Attacker and a Swift the H.P.88 flew only 14hr before being lost during airspeed calibration flights on August 26, 1951.
