First aerial refuelling tests with the USAF/McDonnell Douglas KC-10 hooked up with a C-5, took place near Edwards AFB on October 30, 1980.
The KC-10A, uniquely among existing tanker aircraft, was designed from the start to be able to refuel - without modification and on a single mission, other aircraft using either the flying-boom or probe-and-drogue method. The two systems are seen in use here, with receiving aircraft a C-5A Galaxy.

British Aerospace Sea Harriers have recently completed successful flying trials from HMS Invincible, the vessel’s ski-jump proving more efficient than land tests had indicated.
The first of 33 Boeing Chinook helicopters on order for the RAF has arrived in Britain. Designated Chinook HC.Mk 1 the example here bears the RAF serial number ZA670 as well as the American civil registration N37010.

Garth Elliot’s rare Taylor E-2 Cub, seen recently at Burbank International, was built in August 1933 and flew in July 1980 for the first time in 41 years. Registered C-GCGE the E-2 is powered by a 40 h.p. Continental and cruises at 56 m.p.h.
