2 ноября 2015г. в Шанхае на предприятии COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China) состоялась торжественная выкатка нового среднемагистрального пассажирского самолета C919, который стал крупнейшим созданным в КНР пассажирским лайнером. Семейство самолетов C919 пассажировместимостью 158-174 посадочных места является прямым конкурентом западным аналогам Airbus A320neo и Boeing 737 МАХ. Первый полет C919 запланирован на 2016 г., а завершение его сертификации - на 2017 г. По данным COMAC, уже получен предварительный заказ от 21 покупателя на 517 самолетов C919.

5 мая 2017г. в КНР с территории шанхайского международного аэропорта Пудун состоялся первый полет нового узкофюзеляжного пассажирского самолета C919, разработанного корпорацией COMAC. Лайнер будет выпускаться в трех вариантах на 156, 168 и 174 пассажиров. Он рассчитан на полеты со скоростью 834 км/ч на расстояние до 5500 км. C919 оснащен двумя французско-американскими двигателями CFM Leap. На сегодня получено около 500 заказов на C919 от 23 авиакомпаний. Ввод в эксплуатацию новинки запланирован на 2020 г.
