Doug Corrigan's Curtiss Robin J-1 NX9243 was converted by him from a Robin B and was powered by a 165 h.p. Wright J-6-5 Whirlwind radial engine. NX9243 is pictured here at Roosevelt Field, Long Island, shortly after its return from Ireland.

In an effort to prevent people tampering with the cockpit Corrigan removed the Robin’s door handle.

Another view of Corrigan's Robin taken at Roosevelt Field shortly after his return home from Ireland. The first Curtiss Robin made its maiden flight in August 1928, and during 1929 production reached 17 per day.
