Регистрационный номер: ET-P-12, SE-CDW Apparently we have here two views of the same aircraft but in different colour schemes. However, a mystery surrounds them, since the owner Carl Gustav von Rosen assured the compiler that his Bonanza was never repainted and that the lower photograph shows the correct version. Note the mispainting of Ethiopian marks as ETP-12. This aircraft returned to Sweden with von Rosen and as SE-CDW has been confirmed as c/n D-1866. The light-coloured aircraft is therefore something of a problem. It is clearly marked as ET-P-12 on the upper V-tail surface and there is an EAL C-47 in the background, so the likely location would be in Ethiopia. Note however the presence of yet another Bonanza on the right, this one with a two- colour tailplane. Perhaps several aircraft ex-stock in India were available simultaneously and this one, earmarked for von Rosen, was eventually replaced? Could the location thus be Aden, or even in India?

On p.85/94 we noted that the CofA register quoted different marks but this photo proves that the registrations were used and it is likely to have been taken immediately prior to delivery. In the background is one of the U.9 Messengers after delivery from Newtownards.

Регистрационный номер: N4438C, N465C, CF-GDY The photograph which we received recently from John Wegg shows an Avro Anson somewhere in the USA, probably in the mid-West in the early 1960s. In the information which John obtained with the negative it stated that the registration was N465C but this is not visible on the photo. It appears to have a magnetometer or similar device under the fuselage and thus may have been a survey aircraft. In the editor's US register of 1.64 N465C was a 1963 model Cessna 310H so the Anson was presumably cancelled by then. There is one other clue, the Cessna 195 in the hangar behind is N4438C which on 1.64 was regd to Keystone Aerial Surveys of Glenside, PA. Perhaps the company owned both aircraft? Any details of the identity, operator or location will be gratefully received.

All the salient selling points are labelled, including the fact that the addition of spats would increase cruising speed by 4mph! Note too the 'old' threepenny piece below the aircraft, we cannot recall the exact significance of this - maybe a flying cost of 3d per mile?

Регистрационный номер: M-CACC M-CACC was the pre-1930 Spanish registration of DH.60 Cirrus Moth c/n 497. The narrow track straight axle undercarriage identifies it as a Cirrus Moth although it appears in records such as A.J.Jackson's "de Havilland Aircraft since 1915" as a DH.60X. The X designation properly applied to the version with the divided undercarriage but was also used earlier for 'Experimental' in the case of the first few Cirrus II Moths. This use was soon discontinued but a number of aircraft may have passed into the records with a DH.60X designation which has since caused a certain amount of confusion. A further photograph of M-CCAA c/n 498 shows that it too was a Cirrus Moth and not a DH.60X.

This looks much like E6 as shown on p.85/119 but the cockpit windscreens seem to extend much lower than on other examples and the tailwheel is placed forward of the sternpost.

Possibly the earliest view of the design? This is very similar to that of 18.8.37 on p.85/84 but without windshields at all. Engine rotation is the opposite of the Gipsy Minor, ie: it is anticlockwise from the front, clockwise from the pilot's viewpoint.

This coupé appears to be identical to the October 1937 version on p.85/84. It has the same engine rotation as all these pre-Gipsy Minor examples. Further comments on these or the original photos would be welcome.

It was built with a new fuselage from Nipper Kits & Components which carried certificate of conformity A116 which is correctly quoted as the c/n. It used the wings of c/n 78 once owned by Mr Gomez, who had reserved regn 00-69 for the two kits he possessed (c/ns 71 and 78). Fuselage c/n 71 has been sold to J.Van De Plas for the repair of OO-WOT (CoR 2362) and Mr Gomez intends to complete one Nipper from the fuselage of c/n 78 and the wings of c/n 71.
