Sunderland L2161 being resupplied in the same way as junks, proas, clipper ships and tramp steamers have been down the centuries in the Far East. The retractable front turret was intended to provide a mooring platform but also serves just as well as a spectators' gallery. The leading edge platforms gave access to control runs while providing a suitable access point for working on the engines. Note the bollard in the nose for the anchor chain.
