The lowest-powered of the D17 series was the D17A with a 350hp Wright R-760 E2 capable of a maximum speed of 185 mph. The fully-cantilevered tailplane is clearly visible on this shot of NC19453, c/n 305.

Originally used in an Antarctic expedition, D17A-357 returned to the Southern Hemisphere as A39-2 and was sold to E.J.Connellan as VH-AFP. Seen here at Moorabbin on 6.1.62, it was written off at Springton, Queensland on 22.12.63.

The last civil D17S, NC21934 c/n 424, was modified during the war to become the first model G17S. The longer, streamlined engine cowlings and slightly different vertical tail profile are clearly visible here.

Another unknown location, but this back-of-the-hangar shot was taken in July 1958 and shows that D17S-3121 F-BDRX served with the Escadrille Mercure company for a time.

The precise fate of F-BEEK c/n 3119 is not known but the aircraft was seen in very poor condition at Beirut on 26.7.56. It carried the name "Mon Solo II" and its USAAF plate showed it to have been accepted as 42-38676 on 16.12.42.
