  • Регистрационный номер: K5258

London K5258 tangled with a He 111 on 19 December 1939. Probably surprised at being intercepted by a biplane flying boat instead of Spitfires, one of the crew took a photograph of the London.

  • John Sullivan has unearthed this photo taken during Army manoeuvres. Local lore has it that it was the first aircraft to land at Westcott but there is no date quoted on it. It appears to be a Bleriot XI but the number is not visible. Much later there was an airfield at Westcott but this one was probably in a convenient field and had no relation to the later airfield. However, once in the files, it is surprising how many places were selected as airfield sites on rather flimsy experience.

Following on from the article on Londons in the previous issue, Ian Dobinson has sent in these views of Londons in camouflage. Both carry the TA unit code of No.4 OTU and are on the firth at Invergordon in November and December 1941.
TA-G is K5911 and the serial of K could be K6932 if the digits that appear under a magnifying are really '69'. Other Londons with No.4 OTU at this time were K5257, K5259 (which was J), K5261, K6932 and K9685.
