The original EDO metal floats from G-AFFH which still exist.

The Piper J-2 Cub G-AFFH pictured during restoration by Cliff Lovell after its return from Spain.
Wartime W S Shackleton advert: 23rd & 30th November 1944: £345!!! Piper Cub J2. Continental A-40 engine, landplane, skiplane and seaplane, all in perfect order, EDO all-metal float gear, machine splendidly treated against salt water corrosion; total hours since 150; completely overhauled for C of A at outbreak of war and not flown since; property of famous pilot; carefully hangared.
This Cub was Charles Gardner's G-AFFH c/n 1166 which was flown around the UK on floats in 1938. Sold in Spain 3.53 as EC-ALA, it was rediscovered there and purchased by Cliff Lovell, returned to the UK and restored. The floats never left Britain and are currently owned by an Air-Britain member but not attached to an aircraft!

The Aeronca Chief 50C G-AFJC c/n C1028 which was the only example imported into the UK.
Wartime W S Shackleton advert: 21st September & 7th December 1944: £375!!! Aeronca Chief, fully cowled 50 hp Flat-Four Continental engine, dual Bendix magnetos; imported just before the war at a cost of £800, but virtually unused; fewer than 100 flying hours since new; red satin finish with light blue lettering; dual wheel controls, 2 cabin doors, wheel spats, brakes, pneumatic tail wheel, commodious luggage locker.
This was undoubtedly G-AFJC c/n C1028, the only example imported. Stored in Burnley since 1942, it was sold in 1947 with a new CofA but it was scrapped in 1949.

Comper Swift G-ABUU was given to a Newcastle Air Defence Cadet Corps Squadron during the war. It survived to be restored and was in the hands of John Pothecary when it visited the Sywell PFA Rally on 3.7.77 but has since been sold to Spain.
Wartime W S Shackleton advert: 12th October & 19th October 1944: £95!!! Comper Swift, Pobjoy R engine, very carefully hangared and unused during the war, airframe in excellent order but engine damaged internally, last CofA 1939, total hours since new, 548; seen Newcastle.
The most likely candidate seems to be G-ABUU c/n S.32/5. This was owned pre-war by Miss Connie R Leathart and flown from Cramlington where she had an aircraft repair business. While she was flying with the ATA during the war the Swift went to the Newcastle-based 131 Squadron of the ADCC in June 1940 and afterwards to 131 Squadron ATC. It appeared in an RAF exhibition in Newcastle around 1942-3 and so was probably still in the area at the time of the advertisement. It was of course restored and flown post-war and is now in Spain as EC-HAM.
