Specification O.22/26 called for a two-seat carrier fighter-reconnaissance aircraft with folding wings and interchangeable land and sea undercarriages. It should be stressed for catapulting. Blackburn responded with the 2F.1 Nautilus and it was flown in trials against the Short Gurnard, Fairey Fleetwing and Naval Hart. N234 (shown) was first flown in May 1929 and went to Martlesham Heath for suitability tests for deck landing trials aboard Furious. It was flown at 4,592 lbs with a Rolls-Royce F.XIIMS engine.
